“I imagine that you’ve glanced through the chapters of this book, and you’re probably thinking: Damn, she must have been through some shit.

Take it from someone whose loved one has walked away. You can learn this from your friends, family, career, or relationships. Humans are meant to be loved and to seek companionship. We are not meant to be alone. Some people can’t handle being alone. Harsh reality — no one ever died from that. If you are alone in life, you can still succeed. The people surrounding you do not define you.

Yeah, the title of this chapter sounds harsh, but I say it with a good intention. The point of this chapter is to tell you that you can want to be in love. That’s fine. But you don’t have to. It’s okay to be by yourself! Healthy, even. Truthfully, we only need three things to stay alive as human beings. We need air, water, and food. Everything else is secondary. You don’t need love or companionship. I know you’re going to try and argue with me on this one. Scientifically, my love, you do not need love to live. Everything else is optional.

Check out my new book, ’30 Things Before 30'! This book explores thirty different lessons and notions that I’ve learned before blowing out the candles on my 30th birthday cake. They’re fun, raw, yet important nuggets on lessons of love and career, sex and status, health and wellness, family and f*ck boys, and most importantly- the pursuit of genuine self-love and finding true happiness.
